Established in 2000, this city can be found on the western shore of Cold Lake, after which it is named. This lake is one of the deepest lakes in Alberta, with a maximum depth of 99.1 m (325 ft) and has 24 known species of fish. Surrounded by beautiful provincial parks, this area is heavily protected.
This community is home to approximately 15,000 people with an average growth rate of 3.5% per year. Its economy is mostly supported by oil and gas, military and tourism industries. The region has plenty of year-round recreational activities including several water sports, golfing, skiing and much more. You can also enjoy the walking and cycling trail which is maintained all year long called the Millenium Trail. While there visit the historic museum and gallery that is open seasonally.
This Cold Lake store is run by a local entrepreneur who has surrendered herself to the cannabis industry. The interview below tells you more!
- What is your background?
My name is Danielle and my professional background is in Corrosion Control and Coatings for the Oil & Gas Industry, specializing specifically in Quality Management. I spent the last 16 years in this role, most of my time on the road traveling to various field sites throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.
- Where is your store located?
The store is located across from Fountain Tire and next to Riders Connection Motorsports & RV. Our street address is 4002 50 ST Cold Lake, AB.
- Why did you choose to open a Cannabis retail store-front?
I originally chose to open a franchise and was exploring various companies and industries. I wasn’t looking for cannabis -cannabis found me. I’ve always been fond of the plant, it’s a wonderfully natural way to bring people together. With the end of prohibition approaching, it felt like perfect timing and an amazing opportunity too good to pass up.
- What attracted you to Spiritleaf?
Initially, it was that they are registered with the CFA (Canadian Franchise Association), but after further research and due diligence, I found that their culture and values fully aligned with my own. It’s a company I will back 100%.
- Other interesting facts about you that the public should know?
I’m sure most Albertans can relate to this: I have a love-hate relationship with winter. I hate the cold but love the snow… I am happiest when I’m in the mountains on my snowboard or playing around locally in the park at Kinosoo Ridge.
