The owners of this particular location are challenging stigmas by choosing to be a family-run operation in what’s known to be a historically controversial industry. Going against common perceptions of what a ‘respectable business’ could be, as they work towards normalization of cannabis consumption. With a long history of business ownership in their family, they continue the legacy.

What is your first name and professional background?
Corin:
I come from a family of entrepreneurs!
My Dad has always been self-employed.
My grandparents on both sides were self-employed.
And so, I just always assumed I’d follow in their footsteps!

Where is your store located?
The store is located at 492 Edinburgh Road South, Unit B2B in Guelph, ON.
Why did you choose to open a Cannabis retail storefront?
Corin:
Cannabis has so many benefits and we’re excited to responsibly serve the Guelph community.
Also, it’s exciting to get in on the ground floor of a brand new industry!
That doesn’t happen very often!
Steve (Jr):
I started using cannabis to help with pain management.
Being an electrician is quite a physical job, and it was starting to take its toll on me. And was attracted by the opportunity to work in the industry.
What attracted you to Spiritleaf?
Corin:
I’ve always tried to open businesses that can make your day just a little bit better!
I loved Spiritleaf’s motto:
“We can imagine a world full of peace, love & harmony.”
I think we can all use a little bit of that right about now.
Steve (Jr):
Spiritleaf’s main focus is on the guest experience, finding the best solution for each guest. The stores are warm and inviting and I love the overall relaxing vibe.
Other interesting facts about you that the public should know?
Corin:
I attended the University of Guelph – Bachelor of Commerce. Go Gryphons!
This is a family venture! My business partners are my Dad (Steve Sr) and my brother (Steve Jr).
