Cannabis Infused Beverages in Canada
The selection of cannabis-infused edibles and beverages available in Canada now is impressive, considering these types of products have only been regulated for a year. With many different formats, the selection of oral options includes water-soluble drops, teas, several sparkling water varieties and so on. Infused beverages are a good option for those who don’t want to inhale or eat cannabis, for personal or medical reasons. These types of products are considered more absorbable, providing a predictable and consistent experience. Many of the options are low potency, which is ideal for those interested in micro-dosing. Read on to find out about some of these products, available at most Canadian retailers, including your local Spiritleaf!
Cannabis-Infused Beverage Reviews:
This brand has a sincere love for cannabis! In collaboration with Tweed (Canopy Growth), there is Houseplant Grapefruit Sparkling Water. With natural grapefruit flavour and contains 2.5 mg of THC per can. This infused beverage comes in a traditional style pop can, which is brightly coloured. It is made using THC distillate, extracted from Houseplant’s Sativa-dominant strain. The can has a child-proof pop-top and the required government labels. No odour is detected, it was neutral to me. This drink is completely clear, with several bubbles. It had a flavour that was both refreshing and fruity and in no way tasted like cannabis. This non-alcoholic beverage is very convenient overall and is priced in line with other beverages. This particular beverage was one of the first to be available in the Canadian market last year.
Cultivating a way of life! Next is Ripple THC Powder. This versatile product is produced by The Green Organic Dutchman and contains 10 mg of THC per package. Infused with organic cannabis oil, the product is made using the Indica strain, LA Confidential. Coming in an individually sealed packet which is small, bright green, child-proof pouch with all the required stamps and labels. The powder is opaque in colour and is a bit grainy. TheCannabisSomm says in his review here, that he detects some tomato leaf or blackberry leaf aroma and is slightly sweet tasting. To me, the taste was neutral, particularly when mixed into a flavoured beverage. A convenient, flavourless product that absorbs quickly, making the effects more predictable. Offering the freedom to infuse any food or beverage with cannabis, this is an innovative format, offering maximum potency and priced right.
For those who are new to cannabis, there’s Summit THC Citrus Water, from the producer Valens Agritech Ltd! Each bottle of infused sparkling water contains 2.5 mg of THC and is made with cannabis distillate, using a hybrid blend. Again, the product comes with the government required labels and stamp. This beverage was light yellow looking and smelled fruity with a blend of lemonade and grapefruit flavours. Although there was no odour or flavour of cannabis detected, I personally didn’t enjoy the taste. This producer offers an easy option for those canna-curious consumers who are interested in micro-dosing. It is also priced inline with other beverages on the market.
Another beverage that is crushing it, is Little Victory™ Sparkling Dark Cherry by Truss Beverage Co.™. Referred to as a 1:1, with a low potency, this beverage contains 2.5 mg THC and 2.5 mg CBD in each bottle. It’s produced with cannabis distillate, using an unspecified hybrid blend. The glass bottle is very appealing with a mature, pink colour and has the required stamp and easy to understand labeling. It is naturally flavoured and made with 5% real cherry juice from concentrate. The beverage is a vibrant pink colour, which is nearly see-through and smells sweet, like cherry popsicles -according to Emma George in this review on YouTube. There was no detectable flavour of cannabis to me and tasted great. Compared to other brands it is well priced and is my favourite so far. A product worth celebrating!
