Holiday Gift Guide

It’s that time again, the holidays are around the corner!  Here are some great gift-giving ideas for the Cannabis enthusiast in your life.  Below are the best suggestions for new users, vaporizers and Cannabis related books.

For the new-user:

Get the Cannabis newbie in your life a starter pack!  Most packs will include rolling papers or pre-rolled cones, such as these from Elements.  Some matches or lighter.  A grinder, like this gold 4-part metal grinder, found Spiritleaf Shopify site.  Doob tubes and a smell-proof storage container are always a must.  It is also a good idea to include some humidity packs, to keep the product fresh.  Every start kit must include either a pipe or a portable vape.  It is also a good idea to include some cleaning wipes, to keep the new equipment in good condition.  Finally, include a small ‘strain’ journal for new users to record their experiences.

There are many ‘best-of’ lists for vaporizers, everyone in the community has an opinion on this topic.  In my experience, I think selecting a vaporizer is very personal.  However, there are a few models that perform well and would make a great gift for most consumers.

The top three portable vaporizers include:

First, the Crafty dried-herb vaporizer by Storz & Bickel.  In Canada, you can purchase it for anywhere between $369 to $420 CAN.  This company also manufactures the Mighty, which is a more expensive version.  It is reported to be easy to use and easy to clean, both of which are desirable features.  The durable unit uses both convection and conduction heating, has a USB battery charger and fits in your pocket.

Then there is the PAX 3, which is another popular model and is quickly becoming a household name.  This unit is dual-purpose and can be used for both dry herb and extracts.  The complete kit will cost between $250 and $320 CAN.  This model has extended battery life and heats up quickly. The PAX is discreet, stylish and comes in several different colours.

A more economical dried-herb model is the Reign by 3Kings, which is a Canadian-owned manufacturer.  This unit can cost as little as $100 to $130 CAN.  It has a ceramic chamber, heats up quickly and is said to be the smallest model of its type in the world.  The digital screen displays the battery power, temp setting, and timer.  The temperature setting is adjustable and the unit is charged with a USB cable.

The best stationary vaporizer:

The HerbalAire H3, which is also manufactured here in Canada.  This unit will cost $269.95, direct from the supplier.  This high-tech system is easy to use and allows you to vape two ways.  You can inhale directly through the hose, which is connected to the unit.  Or you can fill up the balloons, which are included in the kit.  This design provides the best flavour because the air never passes through the coil, giving a good overall experience.

Cannabis-related books:

All Cannabis enthusiasts should have this book The Cannabis Manifesto: A New Paradigm for Wellness book, written by Steve DeAngelo and Willie L. Brown Jr., in their personal library.  It is an important call to action about using Cannabis as a wellness catalyst that must be legalized.

For the Cannabis cook in your life get this Herb: Mastering the Art of Cooking with Cannabis, written by Melissa Parks and Laurie Wolf.  Melissa is an executive chef, Cannabis and hemp culinary consultant, cookbook author, educator and speaker.  Laurie, who was trained at The Culinary Institute of America has written four Cannabis-related cookbooks.  This book has over 200 pages of gorgeously illustrated recipes that elevate the art and science of cooking with Cannabis.

For the closet grower you know get them the Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower’s Bible, written by Jorge Cervantes.  Originally published in 1983, this handbook comes with 1120 full-colour photographs and illustrations.  This includes information on grow rooms, greenhouses and outdoor growing, medicinal cannabis, security, lighting, fertilizers, hydroponics, Sea of Green, seeds, seedlings, vegetative growth, mother plants, cloning, flowering, harvesting and curing, diseases, pests and hash making and so on.

Do you know a woman-in-weed?  Give her this inspiring book Breaking the Grass Ceiling, written by Ashley Picillo.  She is the founder of Point Seven Group, which is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBENC) supporting Cannabis businesses throughout the United States and abroad. It celebrates the advancement of women and minorities in the Cannabis industry, inspiring others to follow their path.

Whether you are buying something special for your sweetheart or for a friend any of these gift ideas are sure to please.  Have a safe and happy holiday!  Always consume #Cannabis responsibly, never drive high and store you product away from children and animals.
